Red Sox Outlook for 2007:

The Red Sox have made several moves in the off-season since the 2006 season ended.  Gone are SS Alex Gonzalez, 2B Mark Loretta and OF Trot Nixon who are replaced by 2B Dustin Pedroia, SS Julio Lugo and OF J.D. Drew.  Catcher Jason Varitek has a new swing insisting that it will improve his performance after a horrible season in 2006. And, everyone will be watching the Red Sox new Japanese import -  Daisuke Matsuzaka to see if he lives up to his reputation as one of the world's best pitchers. For as much commotion as the guy is causing, he'd better be the difference maker. If he isn't, it could be the difference between baseball and watching Harvard football in October for the Red Sox.

The Red Sox will be chasing the New York Yankees this season if their new additions and current stars - Manny and Big Papi Ortiz falter during the season.  This year, the Sox will be playing most of the teams in the National League West division including Barry Bond's San Francisco Giants and traveling to Arizona to beat up on Randy Johnson and his new Diamondback's team.  Also included in the 2007 schedule is a big four game series against the American League Champion and World Series Loser Detroit Tigers.   Here's hoping the Tiger's pitchers are forced to field the ball and throw to first or third base during the games!

Several Red Sox players have a chance to participate in the 2007 All-Star Game at AT&T Park in San Francisco on July 10th.  Based on preseason predictions, several players should have a great chance at making it to this game.  The league that wins the All Star game will once again have home field advantage in this year's World Series!
